Prison guard arrests employee over alleged inappropriate relationship

POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Powell County Detention Center employee has been arrested following an internal investigation.

According to a Facebook post, Stanton police helped the PCDC investigate the relationship between a correctional officer and an inmate.

Christine Spencer was charged by Stanton police with second-degree sexual abuse and taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

Spencer was arrested on Saturday.

In the Facebook post, prison guard Teddy Lacy said, “I want it to be known that the public does not have to worry about putting their trust in this institution.”

“Our institution takes very seriously our responsibilities to the law, the state of Kentucky and the citizens of Powell County both inside and outside our walls,” Lacy continued. “If any of my deputies do something like this, I will personally handcuff them and transport them to another facility.”

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further comment is available at this time.
