1 dead in fiery crash on Santa Fe Drive: CSP

DENVER (KDVR) — One person died in a crash on U.S. Highway 85, also known as Santa Fe Drive, Sunday evening.

The Colorado State Patrol told FOX31 the call reporting the crash came in at 7:47 p.m. The crash occurred near C-470.


Only one vehicle was involved in the accident. According to CSP, the driver was in the oncoming lane of Santa Fe Drive and was driving quickly and aggressively before losing control and crashing.

The vehicle burst into flames, CSP said.

There was only one person in the vehicle, who was pronounced dead at the scene. CSP said it is not known whether they died in the crash or the fire.
