2 dead in motorcycle crash during police chase in East County

The motorcycle fled from officers westbound on Main Street in El Cajon, police said.

EL CAJON, Calif. – Authorities say two people died after they crashed their motorcycle while trying to elude police in San Diego’s East County.

According to El Cajon police, the accident occurred at 11:38 p.m. Saturday after officers attempted to stop a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle for a traffic violation at 1700 East Main St. in El Cajon. The motorcycle fled westbound on Main Street from officers at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle broke away from the pursuing officer and crashed into the rear of a blue Toyota Tacoma and a black Hyundai Sonata at 1300 East Main St., Lt. Darrin Forster. The 42-year-old motorcyclist and the 42-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
