SPPD investigates fatal electric scooter accident | Top stories

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WKOW) – One person is dead after being struck by a motor vehicle while riding an electric scooter.

On Friday, just after 9 p.m., Sun Prairie police and firefighters responded to a call of a motor vehicle crashing into an electric scooter. The incident occurred at the O’Keefe Ave intersection. and Sunfield St. in the town of Sun Prairie.

The driver of the mobility scooter was transported to a local hospital by Sun Prairie Paramedics. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with law enforcement.

The day after the incident, the Dane County Coroner’s Office told Sun Prairie police that the electric scooter driver had died from his injuries.

The name of the deceased driver is being released by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Sun Prairie PD and the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Crash Reconstruction Unit are still investigating the incident.
