51-year-old man dead after incident in Sydney

A 49-year-old man from Sydney, NS, is charged with manslaughter in the death of a 51-year-old man, Cape Breton Regional Police said.

In a news release issued late Saturday, police said they responded late Friday to a report of an unconscious man near the intersection of Duke Street and State Street in Sydney.

The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics but later died there.

The press release does not state where the victim is from, whether the two men knew each other, nor does it detail the circumstances of the incident.

According to police, the accused was arrested on Saturday morning.

He will appear in court Monday morning to answer the manslaughter charge.
