Charity bike ride in honor of a Northampton teenager killed by a driver

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A year after Northampton teenager Jesse Johansmeyer was killed by a motorist, bikers rode together in his memory Saturday.

Saturday’s incident came about two months after authorities confirmed they had charged a person in connection with the accident that led to Johansmeyer’s death.

Funds raised at the event will go directly to the future Easthampton Dog Park.

Event vendor Joan Kurtz told us, “Once we have the dog park, we’ll need money to maintain it, get poop bags and make sure the area is cleared so we can use whatever funds we can raise.” I’m grateful .”

The event began at Monty’s Motorsports in Westfield.
