Man charged with sexual assault of a minor

A 70-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with the sexual assault of an underage family member.

The Amherstburg detachment of the Windsor Police Service began an investigation earlier this month after receiving a complaint.

Investigators learned that a 12-year-old victim had been abused by an adult relative over a four-year period.

The man was arrested on Thursday and charged with sexual assault, sexual harassment, solicitation of sexual touching, incest, assault and extortion.

The suspect’s name is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.
