Terrorist attack foiled in Kyiv, says SBU

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that it had foiled a terrorist attack in Kiev planned for May 9 and planned by the Russian military intelligence agency GRU.

SBU sources told the Kyiv Post that “we cannot reveal any details at this time,” but issued a statement through spokesman Artem Dekhtyarenko.

“The SBU acted in advance and the perpetrators of the terrorist attack were arrested red-handed. “In addition, an evidence base has been collected that irrefutably confirms the Russian trail.”

The SGE has promised to announce further details of the special operation later.

On May 7, the Kyiv Post reported that the SBU had foiled an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as the head of the Military Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR), Kyrylo Budanov, and the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) aimed to identify military personnel close to the president’s security service who could arrest and then execute him.
