FIRST WEATHER WARNING – Great weather for Mother’s Day weekend!

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – After a cool morning in the Midlands, mostly sunny skies will allow for highs of over 70 degrees this afternoon.

Summary of the first warning

Yesterday’s isolated showers and storms were associated with a frontal boundary that has now moved offshore. Beyond this border, drier and cooler air has moved into the Midlands. Even though it’s a cool morning, temperatures will rise quickly! High pressure building up in the Carolinas will keep our skies mostly sunny, with high temperatures in the upper 70s.

High pressure continues to determine our forecast for Mother’s Day. This will help keep our skies mostly sunny from start to finish. After another cool morning, afternoon temperatures will climb into the low 80s!

Once again our weather conditions become uncertain for the start of the coming work week. Cloud cover will increase on Monday, but most of us will stay dry. Our next cold front arrives on Tuesday afternoon. This means we will experience a series of showers and storms. As soon as it clears, we will stay dry and warm for a short time in the middle of the week.

Today: Just a few clouds in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s.

Tonight: Mostly clear skies. Cool, with temperatures reaching the mid 50s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny skies. Warm, with highs in the low 80s.

Monday: Mostly cloudy skies. A scattered shower is possible in the afternoon. Highs in the low 80s.

Tuesday: Isolated showers and storms, especially in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70%. Highs in the upper 70s.

Wednesday: A mix of clouds and sunshine. A scattered shower is possible in the afternoon. Highs in the mid-80s.
