Houston gunman charged with killing ‘Good Samaritan’ attorney during McDonald’s dispute – Legal Officer

HOUSTON– The angry customer who is accused of fatally shooting a Houston lawyer after he was upset with his McDonald’s order has been identified as a man with a lengthy criminal history and is currently on the run, according to reports.

Houston police announced Thursday they were looking for 57-year-old Anthony Martin Landry. He faces a murder charge in connection with the death of Jeffrey Limmer at the fast food restaurant, which occurred around 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, Law Officer previously reported.

Limmer, 46, was trying to keep the peace before he was killed. He came as an angry Landry demanded reimbursement from workers at the McDonald’s on the West Interstate Highway 10 service road in Houston.

As Limmer tried to calm Landry down, the two got into an argument that turned physical outside in the fast-food restaurant’s parking lot, KTRK reported.

Landry allegedly pushed Limmer to the ground, retrieved a gun from his vehicle and opened fire on the lawyer, striking him several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the shooting, the shooter fled in his vehicle, described as a blue Ford pickup truck from the early 2000s. He remains at large, HPD noted.

Limmer’s family hopes Landry will be arrested and brought to justice for the attorney’s death.

“Our family is relieved to learn that the suspect has been identified, and we pray that he is apprehended as quickly as possible so that he cannot harm anyone else,” Limmer’s family said in a statement. obtained by Fox 26 Houston.

“Additionally, we pray for the safety of law enforcement as they work to bring him to justice,” the statement said. “We are grateful to the community for your overwhelming love and support, and we ask that you respect our privacy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Jeff.”

Limmer’s sister, Jennifer Thomas, previously said she wasn’t surprised her brother intervened and tried to calm the angry customer before he died.

“Knowing Jeff, he’s the one who always says, ‘Calm down. It’s not that big of a deal and deflecting the situation,” Thomas told ABC 13. “He always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing.”

“A good Samaritan trying to do the right thing and not let McDonald’s employees go through this,” Thomas said.

Limmer attended the University of Texas and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law. He worked as an associate at the law firm Lewis Brisbois in Houston.

At the time of the homicide, Landry was out on $10,000 bail for an aggravated assault case. He is accused of hitting a family member with a cane on February 17, 2024, causing bodily harm. He was scheduled to appear in court Friday, according to court records viewed by the New York Post.

In the 1990s, Landry racked up several criminal cases, including possession of crack cocaine, escape from custody and forgery.
