The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a rollover crash with property damage to a vehicle that occurred Monday afternoon at 4:49 p.m. at 6218 Rt. 63.

Officials say Craig M. Meyer, 39, of Basom, NY, was speeding, struck a road closure sign and then oversteered. His 1992 Jeep rolled three times, ejecting him from the vehicle. Meyer came to a stop 30 feet from his vehicle on the north side of the road. Meyer was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries.

According to Sergeant Andrew Hale, the driver in this case had his life saved because he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, as the driver’s side of the vehicle was significantly damaged.

The driver was conscious and alert when transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight.
