Four police stations in western Massachusetts receive funding for body-worn cameras

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – The Healey-Driscoll administration has awarded more than $3 million in grants to police departments across the state to begin or expand the use of body-worn cameras.

A total of $3,070,985.04 will be distributed to 32 police departments, including four here in Western Massachusetts. Since 2021, the Law Enforcement Body-Worn Camera Program has provided nearly $13.2 million to police to implement body-worn cameras.


“The Body-Worn Camera Grant Program reflects our commitment to improving public safety, improving police-community relations, and upholding our values ​​of transparency and accountability. This technology has become an essential tool for law enforcement, and we are proud to invest in resources that will advance best practices and create safer communities across Massachusetts,” said Governor Maura Healey.

Locally, the Chester, Chicopee, Easthampton and Egremont police departments will receive the most funding. Here are all the Massachusetts police departments that will receive funding:
