At least 8 injured in ‘serious’ knife attack in UK, police and emergency officials say

LONDON – British police said Monday they had responded to a “major incident” in Southport. Emergency workers added that at least eight people were taken to local hospitals with stab wounds.

“Armed police arrested a man and seized a knife. He was taken to a police station,” Merseyside Police said in a statement.

The patients were taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital and Southport and Formby Hospital, the North West Ambulance Service said on social media.

The city is located on the west coast of Great Britain, about an hour’s drive from Liverpool.
