Man arrested after toddlers caught walking alone; also faces drug charges

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – A man is behind bars facing multiple charges after officers executed a search warrant Sunday and found marijuana and other paraphernalia in a home.

Jeremy Wagoner faces several charges, including third-degree child abuse of a child under the age of 12 and possession of marijuana.

According to a press release from the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Rosewood Drive in Cannonsburg to conduct a welfare check.

A passing motorist discovered two children, aged one and three, lying alone on the street wearing only diapers.

According to officials, the driver immediately stopped, secured the children in the vehicle and called 911.

Officers searched the neighborhood and were able to locate the children’s father, Wagoner.

Wagoner was found at the family home and stated that he was sleeping and did not know that the children had left.

The press release states that when officers spoke to Wagoner, they suspected that illegal drug use was taking place in the apartment and therefore obtained a search warrant.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers found a commercial quantity of marijuana, numerous THC cartridges, a scale and over $4,700 in cash.

Wagoner was subsequently arrested and taken to the Boyd County Detention Center.
