Karnataka man, 32, found dead with his teenage fiancée’s head while fleeing

Prakash has been missing since the teenager’s murder.

The 32-year-old man who allegedly beheaded his 16-year-old fiancée in Madikeri and fled with her severed head was found dead on Friday, Karnataka police said.

Prakash’s body was found at Hammiyala village in Madikeri taluka of Kodagu district, the police said, adding that initial reports suggested suicide.

The search for the girl’s head is still ongoing, police said.

The man was supposed to marry Meena, who had recently passed her Class 10 exams. When the news reached the Child Welfare Department, the officials reached the venue and asked the families to cancel the ceremony as the girl was a minor and her marriage could attract proceedings under the POCSO and Child Marriage Acts.

After counseling, the families agreed to cancel the ceremony and postpone the wedding until Meena turned 18.

However, the man didn’t seem to agree. He stormed into the teen’s home and attacked her parents, police said. He kicked her father and attacked her mother with a sharp object. He then dragged the girl about 100 meters from the house and allegedly beheaded her before fleeing.

The victim’s father and mother were taken to a hospital.
