‘Horrific’: One dead after driver rams multiple cars and drags two people to hospital – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

ENGLEWOOD – One person died at a local hospital Monday after being struck by a car.

At around 3:45 p.m., Miami Valley Hospital Police and Englewood Police were called to Miami Valley Hospital North because people had been hit by a car.

An initial investigation revealed that a Cadillac driven by a 60-year-old man was backing into a parking space on the west side of the hospital.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the accident, the vehicle entered the sidewalk, crossed a mulch bed and collided with a guardhouse before striking two pedestrians in front of the main entrance.

The Cadillac continued to back up until it struck a Kia, which contained one person who was uninjured.

The Kia was pushed into a bus in which the driver was, who also remained uninjured.

The Cadalliac driver then put the car in gear and drove along the sidewalk, dragging the two pedestrians in front of the hospital’s main entrance.

He then crashed into a mast and an unoccupied car parked in the parking lot.

A 77-year-old pedestrian succumbed to his injuries after being taken to hospital.

A 74-year-old man, the second pedestrian, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac suffered minor injuries.

Deputies said impairment was likely a factor.

Brenda Weber witnessed the accident and described it as “horrific.”

“It’s not every day you see people being mowed down and it was hard to watch,” she said. “My deepest condolences go out to his wife and family. Like I said, it was a horrific sight, it was very heartbreaking.”

We are trying to find out if the driver will face charges and the identity of the man who was killed.
