Men armed with a baseball bat arrested after an argument that led to a chase, police said

Two men were arrested after a 911 caller claimed they were armed with a baseball bat and chased her down the highway, striking her vehicle along the way.

The caller said she and her sister were in their SUV trying to escape from her ex and his boyfriend, who were closely pursuing them.

The women begged a dispatcher for help.

Cameras recorded the moment Edmond police intercepted the vehicles.

Caller: People… (screaming) trying to run us off the road!

The caller claimed that she and her sister had fled Arcadia Lake after an argument with her ex-boyfriend Manuel Herrera.

911 caller: On the way to the freeway, there’s my crazy ex-boyfriend!

The woman said Herrara was armed with a baseball bat and was hanging out the window of a car driven by his friend, Edwin Murillo.

911 caller: He’s behind us, walking to the side of us, banging on the windows with a baseball bat!

The two vehicles raced along the highway.

911 Caller: Go! Go! I’m heading north on Interstate 35!

911 Caller: Oh my God, we’re going to have a fucking accident! Stop! Please!

Police were stationed at a gas station at East 2nd Street and South Coltrane Road.

911 caller: We see a police officer! We see a police officer!

The women were safe.

911 Caller: You stopped him! (crying)

The police arrested Murillo and Herrera.

Police: Hey! What’s going on?

Police: Why are people calling and saying you’re banging on their windows?

With the help of a translator, the police learned that there had been an argument between the former couple over the victim’s car.

Police: Basically it’s his girlfriend and his car, both are listed in the vehicle registration document.

Officers recovered a metal bat from the suspects’ vehicle and arrested Murillo and Herrera.

According to police, the incident was reported in multiple calls to 911 on several busy roadways.
