Inmate charged in fatal incident at Oconee prison

An inmate was charged after another inmate died in a northern state prison earlier this year. In late March, 24-year-old Michael McMahan died in custody at the Oconee County Jail.

SLED investigators say inmate Jordan Scott Tilson struck McMahan in the head, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head, resulting in his death.

Tilson has now been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody in Oconee County.
