Man of Indian descent who was shot in the USA for apparent aggression in traffic had only recently married

An ongoing police investigation revealed that a pickup truck driver was shot and killed in the US state of Indiana for alleged aggression behind the wheel. The man’s wife identified the victim as 29-year-old Gavin Dasaur of Indian origin.

The man wearing a hat, green shirt and cargo shorts who approached the pickup truck was identified as Gavin Dasaur, a man of Indian origin from Agra. The altercation over alleged road rage occurred at an intersection in southeast Indianapolis. (Indiana, USA).

Officers responded to a report of a person shot at a southeast Indianapolis intersection just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Indianapolis Police Department Officer Amanda Hibschman told USA Today. Upon arrival, officers eventually found a man lying in the middle of the road with at least one gunshot wound.

What happened between the man of Indian descent and the suspected shooter in Indianapolis?

According to cellphone photos shared by the New York Post and a video posted on X/Twitter, a man wearing a hat, green shirt and cargo shorts can be seen getting out of his car and approaching a white Chevrolet pickup truck while shouting at its driver. The man approaching the truck has been identified as Dasaur. The man of Indian origin, reportedly from Agra, is seen banging on the truck’s door with a gun in his hand during the altercation. The truck driver then fires several shots at Dasaur, who is outside the vehicle, and he falls to the ground.

The suspected shooter was arrested at the scene, the Indianapolis Police Department official said. After further investigation, the police spokesman indicated he may have acted in self-defense and was released after consultation with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.

Victim’s widow confirms they recently married

Dasaur and his Mexican wife Viviana ZaMora had married just three weeks ago, on June 29. They were on their way home when Dasaur was fatally shot after an argument.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he eventually died. “I held him while he bled to death and waited for the ambulance,” Dasaur’s victim told the Indianapolis Star. “We were so in love and had many plans for the future, like starting a family, enjoying our honeymoon and traveling all over the world,” ZaMora added.

The case was still under investigation Friday, police said. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will perform the autopsy to determine the manner and cause of the victim’s death.
