Sam Houston Tollway Northeast Plaza to be closed July 19-22

Starting this weekend, the Sam Houston Tollway’s Northeast Plaza will undergo significant changes and closures so crews can make critical road improvements.

According to the Harris County Toll Road Authority, from 10 p.m. on July 19 until 5 a.m. on July 22, the northbound and southbound main lanes of the Northeast Toll Plaza will be completely closed. This closure is necessary to implement a traffic shift and prepare for upcoming mainline work.

During the closure, motorists will be redirected to the service road prior to the closure area and will be able to re-enter the toll road at the next available on-ramp. Tolls will be waived for this detour.

All traffic will be diverted to the two newly reconstructed right lanes, allowing the two left lanes to be reconstructed.

Starting July 22, both left lanes in both directions will be completely closed until early September to repave the roads.

Despite these lane closures, drivers can still pass through the toll plaza using the two newly reconstructed right lanes, which will remain open for the duration of the project.

FOX 26 Houston is now on the FOX LOCAL app available via Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV and Vizio!

The northbound Generation Parkway on-ramp and the southbound West Lake Houston Parkway on-ramp will both remain closed through early September.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly and keep informed of closures.
