Police investigate attempted murder on Rivers Avenue

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Detectives with the North Charleston Police Department are investigating after a man was shot and hospitalized.

According to a report, police arrived at the scene in the 6100 block of Rivers Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Thursday night after receiving reports of a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

When they arrived, the man was lying on the ground. Officers say he was barely conscious when they began to help him.

The man was taken to a hospital to treat his injuries. There is no information about the victim’s current condition.

While examining the scene, police discovered several .22 caliber shell casings. Witnesses told officers that a man dressed all in black shot the victim before fleeing the scene in a silver Chevy Malibu driven by another man.

The incident is being investigated as attempted murder. No suspects have been identified.
