uMyfriend in court for “raping” a girl (7)

Court in Randburg hears child rape case.

A Somali shopkeeper accused of raping a seven-year-old girl from Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, July 18.

This happened after he was arrested on Tuesday evening, July 16, with the help of a community member.

According to the victim’s father, the 34-year-old suspect lured two minors aged seven and ten with sweets and snacks on Thursday, July 11.

He allegedly asked her to come back the next day.

“I give my two children, the girl (7) and the boy (10), money every morning so that they can buy a little something to eat on the way to school,” says the father.

The 33-year-old father said the two siblings always pass the store on their way to school.

“The brother noticed that the shop owner was constantly selling them snacks and started fondling the sister’s private parts,” the father said.

He said the suspect told the brother to cover his eyes while he led the daughter into the store, where he allegedly abused her.

The distraught father said the school principal revealed the information on Monday, July 15.

“Instead of telling us parents, my son told the school principal when he asked him if the act was normal,” he revealed.

He said the mother was immediately taken to hospital after collapsing upon receiving the news.

The father told Daily Sun his son was afraid to tell him that they accepted free snacks and candy from the shop owner.

Diepsloot Police Station Commander Brigadier Moichela confirmed that a rape case had been opened and a 34-year-old man had been arrested.
