Overdose death investigation leads to arrest in Grundy County – SValleyNow.com

On December 14, 2023, Grundy County resident Devon Drake Rymer was found dead. At the request of the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF) began assisting in the investigation.

After an investigation and receiving a coroner’s report confirming an overdose as the cause of death, DTF agents were able to determine the source of the narcotics that caused the overdose death.

DTF agents presented evidence to the Grundy County grand jury, which indicted Whitney Northcutt of Palmer, Tennessee, for first-degree murder.

On July 15, 2024, DTF agents and Grundy County investigators arrested Northcutt and transported her to the Grundy County Jail, where she is being held on $100,000 bail.
