1 dead, 5 injured after shooting in south Minneapolis

The Minneapolis Fire Department also rescued an adult who was trapped between the light rail and the platform shortly before the shooting on Monday, at about 11:15 p.m.

MINNEAPOLIS – One person was killed and five others injured in a shooting late Monday night near a Metro Transit station in south Minneapolis, police confirmed.

The incident occurred near the intersection of 17th and Franklin Avenue, near the Franklin Metro Transit Station. KARE 11 has contacted Minneapolis Police to request more information as few details are known.

Immediately before the shooting at about 11:15 p.m., the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to rescue an adult whose legs were trapped between the light rail and the platform, according to a post on X.

To rescue the passenger, the tram’s power supply was cut off and the trapped person was taken to hospital for further treatment. Their condition is unknown.
