Semi-trailer driver killed in Orangeburg County crash on I-26

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – Officers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol were called to investigate a fatal car crash in Orangeburg County.

The accident happened just after 6 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 26 near mile marker 148, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover. That’s about eight miles north of Orangeburg.

A semi-trailer truck was traveling west when it veered off the road to the right and struck a tree.

Glover said the driver died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the driver.
