Police violently break into house arrest in Williams St. Austin Norman

Plymouth police forced their way into a home on Williams Street after Marshall County Emergency Services received a call early Sunday morning from a distressed woman who had locked herself in an upstairs bedroom with her children out of fear.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 14, Plymouth Police were called to 218 William Street regarding a possible domestic dispute. The caller stated that her boyfriend was “angry” and that she had locked herself in an upstairs bedroom with her children out of fear.

Plymouth police and officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene. The caller did not know the man’s whereabouts and told dispatch he had access to weapons. She said she did not feel safe leaving the room and gave officers permission to force entry into the apartment.

After breaking into the home, police arrested 32-year-old Austin Norman. An investigation was conducted and Austin Norman was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was charged with intimidation.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only a reasonable suspicion to believe that a crime has been committed. Defendants are presumed innocent throughout the trial and are entitled to legal representation and to a jury trial, where the State is required to present evidence beyond a reasonable doubt before a verdict of guilt can be entered.
