A Riddle man was arrested following an alleged threatening incident late Friday night.

According to a report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the 14000 block of North Myrtle Road in the Myrtle Creek area shortly after 11 p.m. after receiving a text message informing them of a dispute involving a firearm.

While responding, officers were able to reach the texter, who claimed that 18-year-old Logan Preston showed up at the location drunk and attempted to start a fight. The texter said Preston pulled out a gun and pointed it at the ground while asking people if they wanted to dance. The suspect eventually left the location and headed toward Myrtle Creek. Preston reportedly passed by a task force and nearly collided with them.

Officers turned around and caught up with the suspect in Bilger Creek. An officer contacted Preston, who reportedly showed clear signs of impairment. The man admitted to being involved in a verbal argument but denied having anything to do with the firearm. Preston reportedly performed standard sobriety tests and performed poorly.

Preston was arrested and transported to the Myrtle Creek Police Department, where a breath sample was taken showing a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent, almost twice the legal limit for drunk driving. The man was charged with five counts of recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, menacing, second-degree disturbing the peace and driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol). Preston was taken into custody without bail.
