Body found in Piscataqua River, same man from I-95 bridge incident

NEWINGTON – The man whose body was found in the Piscataqua River last week is the same person who went missing in the river last month, according to New Hampshire State Police.

The person’s identity has not been released. Police said there were indications the death was not suspicious and there was no danger to the public.

A multi-day search began April 10 after authorities received a report that a person had jumped from the Portsmouth side of the elevated Piscataqua River Bridge on Interstate 95.

Police reported May 3 that the body had been recovered by first responders and transported for examination by the state medical examiner to confirm the identity and cause and manner of death.

The Newington Police Department notified the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol unit shortly before 5 p.m. on May 3 that a deceased person was seen in the Piscataqua River, around Fox Point Road and Windswept Way, according to Marine Patrol members , Troop A, said, and the Newington Fire Department responded.
