Sheriff: 35-year-old Rockville man dies in hay bale incident

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Rockville man has died after being crushed by a large, square bale of hay.

This is according to a press release from the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, which said the incident occurred shortly after noon on Thursday in “rural Rockville.”

When officers arrived at the scene, they found “James Stratis, 35, of Rockville dead under a large, square bale of hay,” the press release states.

The Parke County Coroner’s Office, Bellmore Fire Department, Adams Township Emergency Medical Services and Parke County EMS also arrived at the scene.

“An investigation was carried out on site and no third-party negligence was suspected,” the press release states.
