The missing third-grader’s father reported her missing to local police on Sunday. Although she did not return home later, he told police that the girl was playing in Muchumarri Park. Police searched the area and spoke to locals but were unable to locate her.

The police were alerted to the three underage boys by a sniffer dog. Two of them are 12 years old and in the 6th grade, one is 13 years old and in the 7th grade. The girl attended the same school as all three. According to authorities, the boys confessed during questioning to raping and killing the girl.

The suspects admitted to authorities that they joined in after seeing the girl playing in the park. They then took her to a secluded spot near Muchumarri Dam where they took turns raping her. The boys have told authorities that they killed the girl and dumped her body in the nearby canal because they were afraid of getting in trouble if the girl informed her parents about the assault.
