2 arrested for cruelty after 3-month-old child was hospitalized with broken bones and malnutrition

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Two people are facing child cruelty charges after a baby in their care was hospitalized with multiple broken bones and malnutrition, authorities said.

Hospital staff contacted the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office on April 10 with suspicions that the 3-month-old had been abused, said CPSO spokeswoman Kayla Vincent.

The child’s primary caregivers, Haiden K. Wilson, 19, of Westlake, and Isabella L. Fox, 20, of Lake Charles, turned themselves in Friday, May 3, Vincent said.

The two were arrested on charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. Each suspect was given a $100,000 bond.

Wilson was released on Wednesday, May 8th. Fox remains at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

The Department of Children and Family Services placed the child in the care of a family member, Vincent said.
