A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby was found dead on a street in central London.

The baby was found dead in a property on Taviton Street in Bloomsbury, near Camden, after police responded to an emergency call on Monday afternoon.

Pictures from the crime scene appear to show a forensic tent outside a terraced house on an upscale street in central London, where homes can fetch up to £3 million.

The baby’s age is not yet known.

A construction worker from the neighboring house said that a garbage can he regularly used had been cordoned off by the police.

He said The Independent: “There were so many police officers and ambulances there. We saw a man being arrested on the stairs. He was handcuffed. He seemed very calm.

“Four police officers were after him, others packed his things in bags.

“They held up silver blankets all around the ambulance to shield someone.”
