Severe alert level for Tuesday evening

Severe alert level for Tuesday evening

Chief Meteorologist Jay Cardosi is predicting an increasing chance of storms later Tuesday and especially Tuesday evening, with some strong to severe cells possible.

NOW YOUR WELKY WEATHER WITH CHIEF METEOROLOGY JAY CARDOSI. YES, THERE IS ACTIVE WEATHER FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS OR SO, AND THAT’S SIMPLY BECAUSE THE REMAINS OF BERYL WILL BE DRIVING THROUGH THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY THIS TIME TOMORROW NIGHT, AND THERE’S SO MUCH HUMIDITY. THE THING THAT MADE ASHORE THIS MORNING, AS RICK INDICATED, JUST SOUTHWEST OF HOUSTON, HAS REALLY WEATHERED DOWN TO A DEPRESSION. NOW MAXIMUM WIND IN A SMALL PART OF THE STORM AT 35 MPH. BUT IT’S COMING DOWN. BUT THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF TWISTS AND TWISTS WITH THE WINDS, WITH THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. SO WE HAVE A CHANCE OF SOME STRONG TO HEAVY CELLS TOMORROW EVENING. WATCH THE REMNANTS. THE HURRICANE CENTER IS PUSHING THESE REMNANTS NORTHEAST INTO THE NORTHERN PARTS OF INDIANA UNTIL EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. AND BECAUSE WE ARE ON THE EASTERN FLANK OF THESE REMNANTS, THAT’S A FAVORITE SITE FOR SEVERE WEATHER. AT LEAST THE CHANCE OF IT. SO WE HAVE A SEVERE WARNING COMING INTO EFFECT TOMORROW, LATE TOMORROW EVENING. RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE LATE TOMORROW, ESPECIALLY TOMORROW EVENING. SOME OF THESE CELLS COULD BE STRONG TO VIOLENT, INCLUDING SOME STRONG WIND GUSTS, MAYBE EVEN SOME ISOLATED, BRIEF TORNADO STORMS. BUT AGAIN, KEEP IN MIND THIS WILL NOT BE A MAJOR EVENT. THESE THINGS WILL OCCUR IN NATURE IN A DISTORTED WAY. STILL THERE IS A CHANCE AND WE WILL BE WATCHING IT VERY, VERY CLOSELY FOR YOU. OKAY. IT WAS HOT AND HUMID OUTSIDE TODAY, WASN’T IT? THOSE TEMPERATURES WILL RISE UP TO 93 DEGREES AFTER STARTING AT 72 DEGREES TOMORROW. AND WE’VE HAD SOME LIGHT RAIN HERE IN THE CITY FOR THE LAST FEW HOURS. NOW CLOUDY, 30C, HUMIDITY ABOUT 60%. IT FEELS LIKE 11PM. STILL 32C WALKING OUTSIDE. THERE’S A LOT OF HUMIDITY IN THE ATMOSPHERE AND ON THE RADAR SCAN. STILL A FEW DIPS AROUND THE SUBWAY. VERY, VERY LIGHT RAIN BLOWS MOVE THROUGH, FROM THE SOUTHWEST TO THE NORTHEAST. I THINK THIS TREND WILL CONTINUE. NOTHING HEAVY, NOTHING GENEROUS OVERNIGHT OR TOMORROW. BUT AS THE MOISTURE INCREASES IN FRONT OF THE BARREL OVERHEATS, THAT WILL BRING US THE CHANCES FOR RAINSHOTS. OK, HERE’S YOUR FUTURE. WATCH WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW. TOMORROW WILL CERTAINLY HAVE SOME DRY PERIODS, BUT BY LATE AFTERNOON THE ATMOSPHERE WILL GET HUMID AND VARIOUSLY DISTRIBUTED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP. AND THEN TOMORROW EVENING, WHEN THE WIND ENERGY OF THE REMAINS OF BERYL IS PULLED THROUGH, SOME OF THESE CELLS COULD BE STRONG TO HEAVY. AGAIN, THE NORTHWEST THREE-QUARTERS OF THE OBSERVATION AREA HAS THE BEST CHANCE OF RECEIVING A STRONG OR HEAVY CELL. SO TOMORROW WE’LL BE HERE ALL DAY AGAIN, ESPECIALLY TOMORROW, LATE EVENING, KEEPING YOU UPDATED AS THIS SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH. HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS ON WEDNESDAY. THE THING IS OUT HERE. WE’RE DRYING IT UP. IN FACT, IT’S GOING TO GET LESS HUMID AND COMFORTABLE DURING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. HERE’S YOUR NIGHTTIME FORECAST: WARM, GAY, A FEW RAIN SHUTS, LOW STAMPS 77 AS WE WORK THROUGH TOMORROW. LOTS OF DRY TIME. HOT, HUMID, NEAR 90, BUT COMBINED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON, AND THEN WE HAVE THAT SEVERE WARNING THAT GOES INTO EFFECT MAINLY TOMORROW NIGHT. FIRST HALF OF THE NIGHT FROM 6 PM TO ABOUT MIDNIGHT. BEST CHANCES FOR A FEW DISTORTED STRONG TO HEAVY CELLS. ONCE WE GET OVER TOMORROW NIGHT. VICKY. RICK. WE’LL TAKE IT EASY. WEDNESDAY WILL BE LESS HUMID. 88 THURSDAY. 90S COMING, LOW TO MID 90S. FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. AND OF COURSE WITH THOSE 90S THE HUMIDITY WILL RETURN. YES, BUT WE WILL BE MONITORING THE SITUATION CLOSELY TOMORROW NIGHT. YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW. COULD BE A LITTLE RISKY TO BE HERE
