Center for sexual and reproductive health opens

Wyndham and Brimbank and women will have improved access to sexual and reproductive health services following the opening of new health centres.

IPC Health opened its Sexual and Reproductive Health Centre on its Deer Park and Wyndham Vale campuses on 1 July.

The center offers more services for people who identify as women, people with cervical cancer, and young people ages 12 to 25.

The centre was funded by the Victorian Department of Health.

IPC Health said its adolescent and women’s health nurses would work with clients to provide them with comprehensive health and wellness care and also link them with other services such as general practitioners, healthcare professionals and mental health and wellbeing.

According to IPC Health, nurses could also provide a respectful, confidential and culturally safe space for education and services on topics such as sexual health and wellbeing, contraception, pregnancy decisions, screening, menopause advice, continence and wellbeing support, women’s health issues, and polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis and pelvic health.

Sofi Milenkovski, senior manager of clinical operations at IPC Health, said the funding ensures that people who identify as women, people with cervical cancer and young people in Melbourne’s west now have more opportunities to access essential care and support.

“IPC Health has had deep roots in Melbourne’s west and outer west for 50 years. During that time, we have witnessed the demographic shifts and changes and have been able to provide important services to our diverse communities regardless of their socioeconomic or cultural background,” she said.

“With this additional funding, IPC Health has been able to build a skilled interdisciplinary workforce centered on the center to ensure our clients have timely access to critical services across all of our locations.”
