Equal law for all, no one will be spared, says CM Shinde

Nagpur: The law is equal for all and its implementation will be no different in the case of the accident that occurred in Mumbai on Sunday in which a woman died and involved a BMW, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said here.

Kaveri Nakhwa (45) died when the two-wheeler she was riding with her husband Pradip was hit by a BMW on the main thoroughfare Annie Besant Road in Worli in the early hours of Sunday, a police official said. The driver of the car, Rajesh Shah, and another passenger have been arrested.

Asked if the man involved in the Mumbai accident was the son of a Shiv Sena leader, the CM said, “The law is same for everyone and the government deals with every case in the same way. There will be no special arrangement for this accident. Everything will be done as per the law.” “The police will not protect anyone. The Mumbai accident is unfortunate. I have spoken to the police so that they take strict action,” he added.

The case occurred less than two months after the Porsche accident on May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar district.

Two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh were killed when the Porsche, allegedly driven by a minor in a drunken state, collided with their motorcycle.

The case made national headlines after the boy was released on lenient bail by the juvenile court and Pune police uncovered an attempt allegedly involving the accused’s parents and doctors at Sassoon Hospital to switch blood samples to invalidate breathalyzer tests and force the family driver to take the blame for the accident.
