Hit and run in Mumbai: Speeding BMW rams motorcycle in Worli and drags woman 100 meters to her death | Mumbai News

A BMW travelling at high speed rammed a couple’s motorcycle in Worli on Sunday, dragging the woman for 100 metres on the bonnet of the car, leading to her death and injuring her husband. Police said they were searching for the accused.

This came at a time when there was a huge uproar over a hit-and-run case in Pune involving a Porsche in which a 17-year-old minor collided with a motorcycle, killing two people.

According to police sources, the vehicle belongs to a Palghar-based party leader and his son was in the car along with the driver. Police further said that the accident occurred near Atria Mall at around 5.30 am.

The woman was identified as Kaveri Nakhwa (45), a resident of Worli Koliwada, who was on her way back with her husband to sell fish after buying it from Sassoon Dock.

The car crashed into the couple’s scooter, causing them to lose their balance and land on the hood of the vehicle. The husband quickly jumped off, but Kaveri did not. In a panic, the car continued to drive, dragging Kaveri on the hood for about 100 metres before she was thrown onto the road, the police sources said.

Festive offer

Although locals took her to Nair Hospital, doctors declared her dead. Her husband is now undergoing treatment.

Worli police have filed a case against the two people in the BMW. However, the car’s number plate was removed when it was returned to the police station.

According to reports, the police have arrested one of them and seized the car. However, the DCP of the zone said that no arrest has been made yet. The process of charge-sheeting and arrest is underway.
