1 dead in crash on I-495 near Raynham-Bridgewater border – NECN

One person was killed in a car accident on Interstate 495 in Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon.

State police said they responded to a crash report at 3:18 p.m. on I-495 South off Route 24 near the Raynham-Bridgewater border. Preliminary investigation revealed a single vehicle left the highway and struck the tree line and crashed. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, smoke was coming from the vehicle.

One person died in the accident, state police confirmed. The victim’s name was not released.

The right lane was closed for several hours due to the investigation and was only reopened shortly before 7:30 p.m.
