NYPD: Watercraft accident in NYC leaves one dead and three injured

BROOKLYN, NY (PIX11) – One man is dead and three others injured after a boating accident occurred in Brooklyn waters Saturday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

The NYPD’s Harbor Unit and members of the FDNY received a report of a boating accident a few minutes before noon. A small boat with three people on board collided with a jet ski near Avenue X and Gerritsen Avenue, police said.


Two people were taken to Coney Island Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Police say they are expected to recover soon.

One person was treated at the scene for minor injuries. A 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity has not been released pending notification of family.

Since the investigation is still ongoing, further details have not been released.
