Woman and her dog were attacked and injured by two loose pit bulls in Essex, VT on Saturday

A woman and her dog were attacked and injured by two pit bulls that were left off leash in Essex, Vermont, around noon Saturday. While the investigation is ongoing, police are asking the public for help in locating a man and woman who allegedly walked away with the pit bulls after they failed to offer help to the victim. According to police, the unidentified female victim called 911 just after 11:45 a.m. to report the incident. She said it occurred near Essex Marketplace and Pinecrest Drive. The woman was found by police and examined by Essex Rescue before being taken to UVM Medical Center for a possible broken wrist and multiple dog bites. The woman’s dog was released to a family member who said they were seeking medical treatment for the dog, who police say was also bitten. Once on scene, officers learned that a man and woman had witnessed the attack but had not offered or called for help. The victim told police that the man and woman left the area with the dogs and walked down Pinecrest Drive. Police said the two did not give the victim any information. Police also noted that the two pit bulls were not on a leash during the incident. Essex Police described the man as white with brown hair, approximately 5’9″ tall and wearing dark clothing. Officers described the woman as white with short brown hair, wearing dark clothing and white shoes. The two pit bulls are described as having a tan skin tone. Essex Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call their department at 802-878-8331.

While the investigation is ongoing, police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man and woman who allegedly ran off with the pit bulls after they failed to offer help to the victim.

According to police, the unidentified female victim called 911 shortly after 11:45 a.m. to report the incident. She said it occurred near Essex Marketplace and Pinecrest Drive.

The woman was found by police and examined by Essex Rescue before being taken to UVM Medical Center for a possible broken wrist and multiple dog bites.

The woman’s dog was turned over to a family member who said they would seek medical treatment for the dog, which had also been bitten, police said.

When they arrived on the scene, officers learned that a man and a woman had witnessed the attack but had neither offered nor called for help.

The victim told police that the man and woman left the area with the dogs and walked down Pinecrest Drive. Police said the two did not give the victim any information.

Police also discovered that the two pit bulls were not on a leash during the incident.

Essex Police described the man as white, with brown hair, approximately 5ft 9in tall and wearing dark clothing. Officers described the woman as white, with short brown hair, dark clothing and white shoes.

The two pit bulls are said to have a brownish color.
