St. Louis pedestrian killed in early morning accident

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox on South Hanley Road north of Sunnen Road in St. Louis on July 3, 2024. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m.

The Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Brian J. Fox, 53, of High Ridge, Missouri, was traveling north when it struck Marcus C. Collins, 34, of St. Louis, Missouri. Collins, a pedestrian, had stepped into the roadway.

Collins was transported by Abbott EMS to Barnes Jewish Hospital, where Dr. Lashaunda Johnson pronounced him dead at 5:18 a.m.

Fox, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate vehicle damage. The Chevrolet Equinox was towed by Terry’s Towing.

The accident was investigated with the assistance of the Major Crash Investigation Unit’s No. 2 Team, which included Sergeant JD Cox and Trooper AT Borgic. Additional assistance was provided by Trooper LT Carson, Trooper BJ Fessenden, Trooper MT McCoy, Trooper AP Billiot, Corporal CJ ​​Mendez and Master Sergeant JR Campbell.
