The human remains of a young girl who was feared to have been attacked by a crocodile have been found

The human remains of a 12-year-old girl who had been missing since Tuesday have been found.
The child and her family were swimming in Mango Creek in the Northern Territory when she was reportedly attacked by a crocodile.
The girl’s disappearance triggered a large-scale search operation on land, water and in the air. At times, up to 40 locals helped search the banks of the small stream.
A shirt believed to belong to the young girl was found on Thursday, 36 hours after the search began, ABC reported.
A few hours later, police announced that human remains had been found.
Northern Territory Sergeant Major Erica Gibson said the remains found showed injuries consistent with a crocodile attack.
Sergeant Gibson said residents from surrounding homelands traveled to Palumpa to assist the girl’s family.
“This is devastating news for the family, the community and everyone involved in the search.
“Police are supporting the family and the community along with first responders who were on the scene,” she said in a statement.

“They are all on site supporting the family of this incredibly tragic incident,” Sergeant Gibson told ABC.
