MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – A Miami Beach real estate investor known for his gun charges and run-ins with police is in trouble again, but this time in California.

Patrick Carroll was arrested Monday night in West Los Angeles for leading Los Angeles Police Department officers on a chase and then attempting to flee on foot.

Los Angeles local news helicopters filmed Carroll’s arrest.

“The suspect got out of the car and ran down the embankment, but officers were able to find him fairly quickly,” the reporter said. “Driving under the influence, but then they allegedly recovered some weapons.”

This is not the first time Carroll has come into conflict with the law.

A few months ago, Carroll attracted national attention when he posted a video on Instagram showing himself firing a shotgun from his boat.

Police told 7News that officers arrived at Carroll’s home on Thursday before he told them he had only fired blanks, after which they left.

A week later, he posted a second video in which he fires an unloaded gun and says, “I’m going to teach you how to use a gun properly.”

After several police visits to his mansion, Carroll was taken into custody, subjected to a Baker Act evaluation, and his weapons were seized by Miami Beach police due to a court injunction.

Four months later, he posted a new Instagram story with the comment: “I’m in the nicest gun store I’ve ever been to, Beverly Hills Guns. If I had to feed my family or not, I’d probably kill a person.”

Hours before his arrest in Los Angeles, he uploaded an Instagram story of himself driving his Rolls Royce.

“It was a kind of deception: the suspects got out of the car and pretended to surrender, but then they drove away at a fairly high rate of speed,” said the news reporter from the helicopter who monitored Carroll’s arrest.

The Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to 7News’ request for comment on the details of Carroll’s arrest.
