Family of motorcyclist killed in Bridgeport crash raises funds to cover funeral costs

The family of a Bridgeport man who died in a car crash while riding his motorcycle is asking the public for help in covering his funeral expenses.

According to police, 36-year-old Ray Gomez was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle at the corner of Stratford and Carrol Avenue.

Laiza Aponte, the victim’s wife, told News 12 she took “some comfort” in knowing that her husband, whose life revolved around motorcycles, died doing what he loved most.

She says her life has been changed forever by this tragedy.

“I had to stop and think and ask myself: What should I tell my children? That was the most important thing: What should I tell my children,” Ponte said.

The family has created a GoFundMe link to help cover funeral expenses.
