1 person killed in car crash in Gonzales

GONZALES, Louisiana (WAFB) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Gonzales on Saturday evening, June 29.

According to Gonzales police, the accident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 44 and claimed the life of 38-year-old Jennifer Davenport of St. Amant.

Investigators believe Davenport was driving south on Highway 61 and failed to stop at a red light at an intersection. As a result, Davenport’s vehicle collided with another car.

According to police, Davenport was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
