Two former Uvalde school officials were arrested and charged with child endangerment in connection with the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting

Pete Arredondo, the former police chief of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in Texas, was arrested.

According to CBS News, Arrendondo was booked into the Uvalde County Jail on Thursday on 10 counts of child endangerment in connection with the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting. However, he was released after posting 10 $10,000 bonds, one for each count, according to Uvalde County Sheriff Ruben Nolasco.

Adrian Gonzales, another former Uvalde school police officer, was also charged with 29 counts of failing to respond appropriately during the shooting. His court documents say Gonzalez heard gunshots and was notified of the shooter’s approximate location in time to respond, but “failed to follow his training for response to active shooting situations.”

Gonzalez was booked into the Uvalde County Jail but was released after posting 29 $10,000 bonds, Nolasco said in a statement.

“(It’s) very emotional,” said Jesse Rizo, the uncle of victim Jackie Cazares, according to CBS News. “I knew the day was coming. I wasn’t sure how long it would take.”
