Innocent bystander killed after armed robbery at restaurant in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee: police

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police in Wilson County are jointly investigating after an armed robbery at a restaurant turned deadly Friday night.

Mt. Juliet Police said that on Friday, June 28, officers were dispatched to the Cedar Creek Marina and Restaurant in the 9100 block of Saundersville Road to respond to a reported robbery.

Shortly after the restaurant closed, armed suspects reportedly ambushed staff inside the restaurant, assaulting them and forcing them to open the cash vault. Officials said the staff were treated at the scene by paramedics and released.

According to authorities, the suspects fled to the parking lot after the robbery, where a 27-year-old man was found unconscious with gunshot wounds.

The 27-year-old was an innocent passerby and attempts to save his life were unsuccessful, police said.

Now the Mt. Juliet Police Department and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office have announced that they are cooperating in the investigation as both incidents are related.

Investigators say they are particularly interested in reports of vehicles seen driving at high speeds on Saundersville Road or of possible suspects in the area.
