Teens arrested by Lee County Sheriff’s Office

SANFORD, NC (WNCN) — Three teenagers were arrested this week after officers in Lee County stopped a car and found a stolen gun and drugs.

The incident occurred Tuesday when drug agents with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car on Woodland Avenue near Harkey Road in Sanford, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

After stopping and searching the car, officers said they found a stolen handgun, hydrocodone and marijuana vaporizer cartridges inside the vehicle.

The three people in the car were Ayomide Walter Adekunle Adesanya and Kenneth Cecil Currie III, both 18, and a 17-year-old, officials said.

The 17-year-old was charged with assault on a police officer, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and distribute, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance based on a juvenile criminal complaint.

Adesanya was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and concealed carrying of a firearm, the release said.

Currie was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, officials said.

Adesanya was held on $10,000 secured bail, while Currie was held on $5,000 secured bail.
