Sacred white buffalo calf disappears from Yellowstone

A rare white bison, considered sacred by Native American tribes and believed to bring good luck, has gone missing in Yellowstone.

The calf’s birth on June 4 was considered a “natural phenomenon” meant to fulfill a prophecy for better times, with about 500 people attending a celebration hosted by the Lakota Native American tribe.

But Yellowstone National Park officials issued a warning Friday, revealing that the white buffalo had not been seen since it was born.

“Park staff were unable to locate the cub,” Yellowstone said. “To our knowledge, no visitor to the park has confirmed seeing him since June 4. »
