Family members of girls killed in Juarez react to car crash

JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) – Two of the three girls killed in a car crash in Juarez were buried today. Henry Raygoza, 45, of El Paso, is accused of causing the fatal accident.

13-year-old Ashley Daniela, 14-year-old Ixchel Angelica and 16-year-old Nemesis Gisel died on Monday.

Ashley and Angelica were buried today in South Juárez in the presence of several family members.

Canal 44 in Juárez reports that Nemesis’ family is waiting to say a final goodbye to her, as her mother is still in the Juárez General Hospital due to the accident.

Chihuahua investigators say Raygoza drove a black Jeep into a blue car carrying the girls. The car ended up across the street and was struck by a semi-truck.

Canal 44 also reported that the family was traveling in the blue car to buy dresses for a quinceañera that was to take place this Saturday. The two survivors are still in critical condition in the hospital.

Raygoza was driving too fast because he had driven away from another accident scene while drunk. He was found to have cocaine and marijuana in his possession.

The mayor of Juárez, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, was asked for his opinion on this fatal accident.

“I think that despite the terrible nature of the tragedy, it is good that he is arrested. I would prefer that he pay here in Mexico for what he did,” said Mayor Pérez Cuéllar.

A judge in Juárez has scheduled a court hearing for Raygoza for Monday.
