Bhupendra Jogi, who became a meme, was attacked with knives by two masked men, police investigate | Trending

Bhupendra Jogi rose to fame after a video of him turned into a viral meme last year. In the meme, he was asked by a reporter to name some places he had visited in the US. However, he responded by saying his own name instead of answering the question. Jogi was reportedly attacked by two masked assailants in Bhopal recently. After the attack, he was taken to a hospital where he received 40 stitches.

According to Free Press Journal, Jogi was on his way home from his ready-to-wear shop in New Market in Bhopal on Tuesday evening around 9 p.m. He was attacked near the new market by two masked men with knives. The attackers made two attempts to harm him during the incident. The first time he was attacked from behind, and when he defended himself in the second attack, he seriously injured his hand, leaving him with severe scars on his hand and back.

Speaking to The Indian Express, a senior police officer said, “A case has been registered under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) at Arera Hills police station but so far there is no clue about the culprits. Jogi has not spoken about any rivalry or previous threats. We scan CCTV footage on site. Jogi told The Indian Express: “I had closed my shop and was on my way back when two masked men attacked me with knives. They were not arrested. I am asking for everyone’s help in finding these people and to help me get justice.”
